Regarding Sasha from Dnipro...

Last fall, we hosted Sasha. He is a very well-behaved, kind, and good mannered 10-year boy -- an adoptive family's dream. He's got blonde hair and deep brown eyes. His favorite food was fried potatoes, ramen noodles and hot dogs with lots of ketchup. During the 3 weeks he was here, we didn't run into a single problem. (okay...he turned the bathroom into a swimming pool when he took a bath, and somehow just couldn't grasp that toilet paper goes into the toilet, not the garbage can. lol!) Best of all, according to the orphanage director, he is available for adoption.
We really wanted him to be part of our family, and were making plans to adopt him, even though we are already in the middle of getting Yuliya, who we hosted in '07. Then a few things happened: First, we found out that he has 13 and 17-year old sisters (He showed us a worn picture of them. They are beautiful girls, and if they are anything like him, would be easy to adopt. The 17-year old is no longer in an orphanage and, from what we understand, because of her age, cannot be adopted.) Second, the USA continues to go into this dang recession and gradually, my financial resources have de-valued to a fraction of what they were 2 years ago. Everything available to us is going towards Yuliya's adoption. Third, he is in a separate orphange (Dnipro), several hundred miles away from Yuliya. Adopting him would require a separate dossier, SDA appointment, and all of the expenses that reason #2 pretty much make impossible. Our ability to adopt him, no matter how much we want to, just isn't possible right now. This breaks our heart, and it's going to break his when he starts seeing his friends from the same orphanage come to America all year long with their new families.

So, dear reader, if you would like to adopt the perfect child and his 13-year old sister, I have a terrific recommendation for you. I've seen 2 groups of kids come and go from Ukraine, and it would be so sad if this choice little guy did not find a family to adopt and love him forever. If you want more information, please let me know.

Andreas! Talk to Karen Love, email me for her info, if you don't have it. She hosted this year and is so sad that her little one didn't want to be adopted. A little boy just about the same age. I talked with Nanette at the lunch about her and she was going to call her but I'm betting with all Nanette has going with the wedding they haven't hooked up.
I'll vouch for Sasha, he was darling!

I feel your pain. I wish I could adopt them all myself. If I had any money I'd give it to you because I can't think of any better parents for him. Can't wait until you have your travel date. It is all so unreal after that. Maybe I'm evil but still kinda hoping the orphanage director has a heart attack or something before you have to go. Remember Romny is a hidden trove of treasures. That makes it all worth it.
