First of all - a BIG thank you to all that we've hit up for information. We're fairly nervous, and you've helped calm our nerves.

We leave 3 weeks from Saturday! We're finally in the 30-day stretch. Woot!
Yuliya and Eliza will be sharing the upstairs bedroom until the other room is complete. I received my 'honey-do' list that includes painting, bead boarding 1/2 the wall, hanging a mirror, assembling a bunk bed, hanging shelves, etc. I read on Benson's blog how Jen (in bold letters) HAS to redecorate her girl's room. Carrie proclaimed "See! It's a motherly instinct!". I figure this experience is comparable to bringing a newborn home from the hospital for the first time, and everything has to be 'just perfect'. But instead of pink pastels and bunnies, its brown and pink 'chic' decor. This will be one cool room when it's done.
After many, MANY attempts, we still have not been able to get through to Yuliya. We still don't know if she got her birthday package or if she knows we are coming. Perhaps with everything going on in Poltava right now, maybe it's better that we just show up and surprise her rather than risk anyone knowing and preventing this. Yuliya's aunt works at the orphanage so we're hoping she found out and told Yuliya. Eveything happens for a reason, even if it is something as simple as this. We trust that God knows what he is doing. In retrospect, it's been pretty amazing to see His hand in all of this. It's also a little humbling. As nervous as I am to have a 12-year old daughter, I can't help but ask 'why was I chosen for this'? I'm pretty sure I'm the luckiest dad in the world.

You totally have to decorate!!! I am so excited to bring these girls home to an atmosphere that is comfortable and welcoming!
I'm with Jen. I actually cleaned carpets and walls in addition to decorating. My sister said I was "nesting". Nice to nest when you can move the furniture by yourself and not have a big belly in the way!
Good luck with your list. We cranked out a bedroom in 2 weeks. No carpet, floor boards or closet doors but our 15 year old doesn't care!

Too funny my word verification is
"maternin". Maybe that's what Carrie, Jen & I are doing maternin!
Yes, it is 'nesting' It can happen when you're pregnant and even when you're not, as in adoption. Perfectly normal. My friend said her husband was the 'nester' LOL
I've read your blog off and on for a while. So glad to see you finally have a date:)
Best wishes on your packing!
BTW - you can't necessarily find Suave in Ukraine, but you can find lots of American brands like Herbal Essences, Sunsilk and a few others. There is a Ukrainian brand of shampoo we tried that was great. It had daisies on the front, but I can't tell you the name since it was in Russian.
